Sub-processors

The companies that process customer data for silken, what each one does and where. The data processing agreement gives general authorisation for this list and promises 30 days' notice before it changes.

The list

Who processes data for silken.

Hosting, email and payments. Nothing else receives customer data.

01 / The list
Provider
What it does, what it holds, where
Hetzner Online GmbH
hosting
Hosts the gateway: the API, the dashboard and the account and job database. Holds account data, job records and the output silken hosts for you. Location: Falkenstein, Germany.
RedSwitches
hosting
Dedicated servers for conversion workers. Customer video is fetched, converted and delivered here, and held on local disk only while a job runs. Location: the Netherlands.
Leaseweb Netherlands B.V.
hosting
Dedicated servers for conversion workers, as above. Location: the Netherlands.
Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL
email
Amazon Simple Email Service sends service email: verification, password reset, contact and meeting messages. Holds recipient addresses and message content in transit. Location: the EU (Ireland) region.
Stripe Payments Europe, Limited
payments
Takes card payments and invoices, and receives usage as minutes. Holds your email address, billing details and card data, never your media. Location: the EU and the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Amazon Web Services
only if you buy through AWS Marketplace
Receives your AWS account identifier and the minutes used, to bill you through the marketplace. Holds no media. Location: the United States, where AWS operates Marketplace metering.

What is and is not listed

Your own object storage, and your webhook endpoint, are yours and are not sub-processors: silken reaches them only with the URLs you sign and the address you configure.

A provider appears here only if it processes customer data. Stripe and AWS Marketplace are listed because they receive your contact and usage data as part of billing, though they never receive your media. The privacy policy says exactly what each one receives.

Changes

How we tell you.

At least 30 days before a new sub-processor handles your data.

02 / Changes

Before silken adds or replaces a sub-processor that processes customer data, it publishes the change on this page with the date it takes effect, at least 30 days ahead. To be told by email as well, write to support@silken.io and ask to be added. You may object on reasonable data-protection grounds during that period, and the data processing agreement says what happens next.

Moving a server to another site of the same provider in the same country is not a change of sub-processor, and is not announced.
