Every title ready for every screen, for your release workflow.

silken takes whatever the distributor sends and returns the versions your apps and TVs play, in a picture your viewers notice, written into your own storage. It plugs into the way you work today, so titles go out sooner and your team stops fixing files.

The business case

What changes for your business.

  1. Titles ready to publish

Whatever the distributor sends goes through, with the Fast tier when a release window is tight; unusual masters are set up with you during onboarding. Fewer files go back, fewer releases slip.

When it matters A new licence deal, a release-window peak, festival season.

  2. HDR, 4K and advanced colour, done right

Premium titles look premium on new TVs, and HDR titles still look right on older ones, shaped by our proprietary power features under your control.

When it matters New 4K and HDR licences; viewers on older TVs complaining.

  3. A catalogue refresh in bulk

A whole back catalogue ingested at high speed for a new device, market or quality standard, with capacity ready now.

When it matters A new device launch, a new market, an encoder reaching end of support.

For your video team

Your delivery spec, met per title.

The detail your engineers will ask about. Every line is set up with them against your ladder spec and your device matrix during the test.

Versions
Every rung of your ladder in H.264 up to 4K or in AV1, to your naming, with H.264 fallback rungs selected explicitly. HEVC file recipes depend on live worker qualification.
Packaging
HLS for your origin or packager, or plain files if your packager does the rest; DASH/CMAF when live job options admit it.
Protection
DRM (SPEKE v2, CENC cbcs) is enabled per account with your own key server; ask us to switch it on.
Extras
Captions, loudness normalisation and extra audio languages depend on live worker qualification. Posters, thumbnail galleries and scrub previews help viewers find their next scene, included with Standard and Fast jobs.

Availability follows your account’s live job options and qualified worker capabilities.

Licensed HDR

An HDR title still needs an SDR version.

Retail platforms ask for the SDR alongside the HDR, and older TVs in your device matrix only play SDR. When a title arrives HDR-only, silken makes the SDR version as a ladder of SDR renditions, with controls your engineers tune per title, so nobody sees a washed-out fallback.

HDR to SDR

“All HDR deliveries must include a separate, standard dynamic range (SDR) source in the same resolution as the HDR source.”

Evaluation

Judge it on your own titles.

A pilot runs on your masters, in your bucket, against checks you write down first. Nothing in your delivery path changes until it passes.

Rates and billing rules

Ones that represent the catalogue: an HDR feature, a dark drama, a fast animation title.

The rungs, codecs and naming your origin expects, and the devices in your matrix.

  3. 03

Questions

Can silken feed our origin or packager?

Yes. Renditions to your ladder spec land in your storage for your JIT origin or packager to pick up unchanged, so your DRM provider, CDN and player stay as they are.

What about HDR titles for SDR audiences?

HDR10 and HLG masters can produce SDR rungs, with tone controls you set per title. HDR10 and HLG can also stay HDR in HEVC Main10 versions alongside SDR versions in one HLS ladder, at the HEVC price.

How do we evaluate it?

Book a pilot on a handful of your own titles with agreed acceptance checks: outputs, picture, turnaround and the full job price.
