One source request can produce several renditions. Choose the profiles and delivery options your account and current workers admit. The detail, for your engineers:
- Renditions
- Self-serve ladders with the renditions you choose, within your account’s limits; H.264 and AV1 profiles.
- Codecs
- H.264/AAC and AV1/Opus. HEVC/AAC MP4 and VP9/Opus WebM file recipes require qualified workers advertised in job options.
- Packaging
- HLS with optional DASH over CMAF segments and WebVTT or STPP captions, subject to live job options.
- Delivery
- Ladders go to your own S3 via IAM role, or R2, B2 or Wasabi. Without a destination, held for seven days by default.
- Audio
- Loudness normalisation: EBU R128 (-23 LUFS) or ATSC A/85 (-24 LUFS), where worker qualification admits it.
- Protection
- DRM is enabled per account with your HTTPS SPEKE v2 key server and qualified workers. It uses SPEKE v2 and CENC cbcs for H.264/AAC VOD ladders. Test protected playback on your target players before switching.
Availability follows your account’s live job options and qualified worker capabilities.

There is no input fee. Each rendition is charged for the minutes it delivers, at its own resolution tier. Packaging, manifests and webhooks carry no line of their own. Three speeds: Fast runs solo on the node at top priority, Standard shares the node, and Economy packs jobs onto spare capacity at lowest priority. Economy is native API only: SDR H.264 + AAC, MP4/HLS through 1080p. HDR conversion, captions, DRM and progressive delivery require Standard or Fast.

Questions
What does one encoding job produce?
A file in the format of the selected profile, or a self-serve ladder with the renditions you choose; the limits that apply to your account are listed in job options. HLS, DASH/CMAF and caption options depend on live job options. Ladders go to your own storage or are held for seven days by default.
Which codecs and packaging formats can I use?
H.264/AAC and AV1/Opus profiles serve files and ladders. Include H.264 fallback renditions yourself when needed. HEVC/AAC MP4 and VP9/Opus WebM file recipes are implemented but require qualified worker grants; check live job options before submitting. HEVC/VP9 ladders, HDR output and automatic per-title ladders are not published recipes.
How is an encoding job priced?
Each delivered rendition is charged per output minute by resolution and speed tier, with published codec and frame-rate extras. Input and HDR-to-SDR conversion are included. Delivery includes a customer-sized fair-use allowance; hosted storage is priced separately.
