Solutions · Broadcast & archives

Your whole archive, ready to watch.

silken turns your masters into the viewing, streaming and licensing copies you need, in bulk, from your own storage and back into it. You pay per minute of video, not per gigabyte, and your masters stay under your control.

The business case

What changes for your business.

  1. Open the archive sooner

An entire library ingested at high speed for a portal, a streaming channel or a licensing deal, with capacity ready now.

When it matters A digitisation programme; an archive portal launch.

  2. HDR, 4K and advanced colour, done right

HDR and 4K programmes keep the broadcast look on every screen, including a standard version your engineer signs off.

When it matters UHD productions with SDR distribution.

  3. Large masters, no large bills

Billed per minute of video with a flat extra for broadcast masters, never per gigabyte.

When it matters A transcoder renewal or end of support; per-gigabyte bills.

How it plugs in

Nothing to replace.

  1. Masters in your storage
  2. your media system
  3. silken
  4. copies back in your storage
  5. your portal, channels and partners

One step in your media supply chain: your MAM points silken at the house master in your storage (MXF, ProRes, IMF or interlaced archive), and the copies come back beside it with a job record for every file.

“The problem of ensuring near identical colours in SDR content derived from an HDR workflow … is one that the whole industry has been trying to solve.”

Colour

The SDR version your engineer signs off.

HLG and HDR10 programmes get an SDR derivative with every control exposed per job and the recipe recorded, so it is reproducible and auditable. Where you already have an SDR version, the deliverables are made from it instead.

Back catalogue

A migration is a project. We plan it with you.

A digitisation backlog, a FAST launch or a re-tender gap has a volume, a format mix and a deadline. Your MAM or orchestrator calls our API; we agree all five of these before the first batch runs.

Inventory
Programme count, running time and the input mix (MXF, ProRes, IMF, interlaced SD and HD, HLG and SDR), from your MAM export.
Recipe
BVOD, FAST, access and proxy deliverables per programme type, signed off on your hardest masters first.
Acceptance
Your technical delivery spec per output, the SDR version against your reference, captions and audio carried, naming your MAM expects.
Schedule
Throughput sized to your deadline, with progress reported per batch.
Price
By delivered output minute and speed tier. Studio and broadcast master inputs carry no input surcharge.
Your masters

Your master stays put.

  • Read in place. Each job reads the house master through a signed link to your storage and writes the deliverables back beside it. Custody and the preservation master never move.
  • In your cloud. For rights, security or residency rules, silken runs inside your own cloud account.
  • Reviewed like any supplier. Bring your security questionnaire and data-processing terms to the evaluation.

Questions

Do our masters leave our storage?

A worker downloads a scratch copy while the job runs, writes the deliverables to your storage and removes its working files when the job ends. No source copy is retained in the ordinary course.

How are high-bitrate masters priced?

By delivered output minute and speed tier. Studio and broadcast master inputs carry no input surcharge.

Can we run a back-catalogue project?

Yes. Talk to sales about the volume, formats and schedule; a pilot on representative programmes sets the recipe and the acceptance checks.

Free test on your files

Send us your hardest files.

Send us 20 masters: interlaced, MXF, HDR and multi-track. We agree the results date after engineering confirms capacity. The outputs are back in your storage with a spec sheet and recipe per file, the turnaround, the failures and a monthly price for your backlog. Free within the standard scope.
